Hon. Sharlene Cartwright Robinson LLB JP (born 1971) though a lawyer by profession (since 1998) has spent a great deal of her time in service to her Country where she served in many influential bodies – Immigration, Electoral Boundaries, Constitution.

Over the years, Sharlene has worked with major TCI law firms in Providenciales and operated her own Law Firm Cartwright & Co. while working as a Law Tutor at the TCI Community College from 2004 – 2008 in Grand Turk.

An active member in her Church and civil society, she is widely known for her work among youth especially in her Church and the Kiwanis Club. Sharlene is a Past President of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship Youth Department (2012 – 20114) and is a privileged member of a small Alumnus of pioneers Canada Caribbean Emerging Leaders Dialogue in 2011.

Sharlene entered frontline politics in 2003 after serving her Party actively since 1998 climbing the ranks as the first female Vice Chairman, Secretary General and National Chairman. She later became the first female to be elected Deputy Leader and Leader of any major Political Party in the history of the TCI.

During Elections 2012 and 2016, she was deemed the most popular politician having amassed the most votes out of the All Island Candidates.

Following the 2012 Election, Sharlene made history by being appointed as the first female Leader of the Opposition.

Following the 2016 Election having led her Party on a message of change to a landslide victory of 10 to 5, she was elected as her country’s first female Premier and also became the first female elected leader in all of the British Overseas Territories.

She currently serves as Minister of Finance. Sharlene completed the term of her successors as Vice Chairman of OCTA (Premier, TCI) and Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Caribbean Development Bank (Minister of Finance, TCI). Sharlene now also serves as Chair of the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (OCTA) and is the first female leader to hold this position.

She is married to the handsome Lorne Robinson and they together have two beautiful daughters A’Janae and Laci.
