The Honourable Gaston Browne is Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Antigua and Barbuda. He was first elected to in 2014, and was reelected to serve a second term in 2018. From November 2012 to June 2014, he served as Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition and of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP); and was elected Political Leader at the National Convention of the ABLP.

In 1999, PM Browne was first elected to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda from the St. John’s City West Constituency. He was re-elected on March 23 2004, March 12 2009, and June 12 2014. From 1999 to 2004 he held several posts, including Appointed Minister of Planning and Trade, Director of LIAT (1974) Ltd; and Director, Antigua Pier Group Ltd.

He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Medical Science degree from the American University of Antigua School of Medicine. PM Browne also holds a Master of Business Administration degree as well as a BSc from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He has published a paper on the Abolition of Personal Income Tax. The 25-page Paper deals with the economic worthiness of eliminating personal income tax in Antigua and Barbuda, utilizing both historical data and economic theory. It was relied upon by the victorious ABLP in its 2014 general election.
